In class, we read Lewis & Clark Chapter 2 and listed three important concepts for the "Voyage of Discovery": Exploration (Reasons: Look for NW Passage and fill in the blanks in the US Map), meet the Native Americans (Reasons: tell the Native Americans that Thomas Jefferson is their president and learn about their customs and culture), and learn about the plants and animals (Reason: are there any useful plants/animals?). Students wrote the rough draft of their persuasive letters in their packets.
