4th Grade News

Hello Fourth Grade Families,

Attached to your email this week you will find a letter regarding our first grade teacher, Mrs. McDade, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.  As a resident of Snoqualmie Ridge and a much loved teacher at CVES, this letter explains her illness and suggests ways you can extend support and assistance to her and her family.  I hope that our close-knit community will rally around them.  I know my thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

Goal for the Week  Stay cool and focused on school in this hot, sunny weather

Announcements:

MSP: Tuesday (tomorrow) is our reading MSP.  Please help set your children up for success by sending them to school on time after eating a healthy breakfast.  Please send your student to school with a water bottle and a healthy snack.  Thank you for your support!

PE News from Mrs. Corder: Parents-  Gotta love this sun.  During PE classes, we will be taking advantage of the beautiful weather and our improved field by going outside for class.  Please make sure your students are prepared for being outside with the proper shoes and attire, as well as, taking care of any allergy concerns.  If your student has allergy concerns, please have them contact me (condera2@svsd410.org) for an alternate activity.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!  ~Mrs. Corder

MORNINGS WITH MOMS (from Mr. Wilson):
Friday, May 10th,  7:45am -8:30am
Please join out annual “Morning with Moms” for coffee and treats in the Multi-purpose room so our students can show off their mothers, grandmothers, aunts along with any other ladies of significance in their lives.  This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate ALL that you do to enrich their lives.  We look forward to seeing you!

IXL: May Goal: We’ll be working on L and/or V skills this month, with goal and reward TBD.

This Week:
We’re finishing our Lewis & Clark reading journey and using writing, art, and research to explore the impact of their expedition. Our Wax Museum project continues with kids reading their biographies, completing internet research, taking notes, and starting to plan/work on their posters. Math classes are completing Topic 19: Geometry, and reviewing topics from earlier in the year.  We're reviewing narrative writing and completing a practice narrative piece on Thursday to help us prepare for pacing on next week's writing MSP.

With thanks,
Emily Larson
