4th Grade News

Hello Fourth Grade Families,

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday night for Curriculum night!  We’re starting to get into the swing of things in 4th grade, and I’m excited to share important information with you about helping your student get the most out of the 4th grade adventure!

Goal for the Week:   Line up quickly and quietly.

Announcements:

Wednesday evening Curriculum Night: In 45 minutes or less, I will attempt to give you an idea of what we do for 10 months in 4th grade and how we go about doing it!  The weather forecast shows more warm weather ahead and our classroom is usually pretty toasty.  You’ve been warned!  : )

Walk to Math:  Please read the letter (attached to this week’s email or in the document section of our website) regarding our new 4th grade “Walk to Math” program beginning on Thursday.
Volunteer Training:  is scheduled for September 25th: 8:30 – 9:30am and 1:50 – 2:50 pm. This training is for all volunteers who are new to the school or folks who need a review.   Please call 831-4100 to sign up for a training session or stop by the Main Office.  If you have already gone through training and a background check, you are all set to volunteer for this year with no further training. We love our volunteers!

This Week:

We’re taking our first math topic test (and re-test opportunity), starting walk-to-math with Topic 2 (Adding and Subtracting Whole Numbers), completing our Akiak reading projects, practicing tricky words (homonyms!) in spelling, investigating energy in science, continuing to talk about good sentences, and starting reading buddies!

With thanks,
Emily Larson
