We’re really starting to get the hang of 4th grade! Students are working hard at following
directions, meeting expectations, getting homework turned in, and giving 100%
effort. Let them know how proud you are of all their hard work – they deserve
it!
Goal for the Week: Get to play Homeworkopoly on Friday.
Announcements:Walk-a-thon Folders: are due back October 2nd. A number of students are very excited about raising money and have set personal fundraising goals above the $45 the PTSA is hoping every student can raise - way to go fourth graders! Even if students are not participating in fundraising part of the Walk-a-thon, please help out by reminding students that all envelopes should be returned before the 2nd. Start rounding up your purple walking outfits to show 4th grade spirit!
Curriculum Night: It was wonderful to see so many of you! If you were unable to make it, your student brought home the curriculum night materials and their note to you in their green boomerang folder last Friday. Please let me know if you had/have any questions. Even if you didn’t make it for curriculum night, please take a moment to write your child a note (the curriculum night folder had paper for this) responding to their note to you and offering some encouragement for the school year. These notes are a great chance to put in writing how proud you are of your student and that you know they can do great things!
Adult Reading Mentors: We need you!! ARMS is a one-to-one reading program using volunteers as mentors and tutors. The goal of the Adult Reading Mentor program is to assist students who need additional help to become successful readers and confident students. Please read the information from our amazing librarian, Sue Head. I hope you will consider helping our CVES readers!
This Week:
We’re continuing math
Topic 2 Adding and Subtracting Whole Numbers, introducing our October Mystery

With thanks,
Emily Larson
