4th Grade News

Hello Fourth Grade Families,

We’re off to a great start on a brand new trimester!  We’ve been reflecting in class on second trimester learning, work habits, and behavior – what went well, what challenges were overcome, and what might be good goals and areas for growth in third trimester. I’m so proud of all of their hard work. Be sure to take a moment to let your student know that you’re proud of him or her as well!

Goal for the WeekFocus on serious, mature behavior as we continue with our storypath episodes.

Announcements:

Report Cards Available Online Monday:  Families can go to the district website to view report cards:  http://www.svsd410.org/parents/FamilyAccess/FamilyAccess.asp
If you don’t have or forgot your login or password, you can click on “forgot my login/password” and the system will email them the information needed to login. Parents can call the CVES office with any questions.

Student Trimester 2 Work: will be coming home Monday in a large manila envelope. Students completed “Trimester 2 Recap Art” to reflect on what went well, what skills/projects were challenging, and what goals they’d like to accomplish in 3rd Trimester. Please ask your student to tell you about his or her art!

Class Photo Day: Class photos will be taken next Tuesday 3/19. Order forms went home in today’s Friday folders. Electronic copy of the form is attached to this week’s email. (FYI FROM PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOY: We do offer an optional spring individual background. It's a colorful paint splash look this year. We only take individuals on it if they have specified it on their order envelope. So if they turn in their form late they are out of luck on that one.  (Of course they can always get a group photo if they turn in a late form.). If we have a student that is new or has completely missed the fall individuals we will take a quick yearbook photo on our grey group background to work for the yearbook.)

MSP Testing Dates: Our MSP test dates have been scheduled.  If possible, please avoid appointments and vacations during the first three weeks of May.
- Thursday, May 2          Expository Writing MSP
- Tuesday, May 7            Reading MSP
- Wednesday, May 15     Narrative Writing MSP

This Week:

We continued our NW Coast Storypath, worked on Metric Measurements and Time in math, learned about the “Web” as an additional/alternate expository writing tool, read a story about a Native Alaskan boy learning traditional fishing methods, and celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with Wednesday wackiness!

With thanks,
Emily Larson
